Fishery Advisory Committees
Page Content
Fishery Advisory Committees (FACs) provide advice to the Minister on important issues affecting each of Tasmania's wild fisheries.
The COVID-19 pandemic restrictions will curtail the operation of "normal” FAC meetings over the next few months. However, there is still a need for FAC advice to be provided to the Minister on priority issues—for example, harvest strategies, TAC setting, legislative management plan changes and future COVID-19 recovery plans.
Consequently, the Department has been considering practical alternatives to in-person, full, or part day FAC meetings, and in the interim, the principles for the operation of FACs included in the following document will be used as a guide.
