The Sustainable Marine Research Collaboration Agreement (SMRCA)

DPIPWE has a research-focused partnership with University of Tasmania's Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) that aims to:

  • Undertake world-class research into temperate and coastal marine environments
  • Support effective and sustainable management of Tasmania's marine resources for the benefit of Tasmania
  • Support the Government's legislative and administrative obligations (under the Marine Farming Planning Act 1995 and Living Marine Resources Management Act 1995) through research and the provision of data and advice

From time to time, the partnership, known as the Sustainable Marine Research Collaboration Agreement (SMRCA), produces reports relating to the Tasmanian aquaculture industry.
