Commercial Dive Zones

The Commercial Dive Fishery is divided into 5 Zones.  A seperate total allowable catch is allocated in each of theses zones for both the short spined urchins and the periwnkles,  Once the total allowable catch is caught in a zone for a species, that zone is closed to the take of that species until the commencement of the following fishing licence year. For Periwnkles and Heliocidaris
The areas for each of the five zones are described below.

South Eastern Zone

being that area of State waters on the east coast of Tasmania bounded to the north by an imaginary line running east to west from a point at lat 42049'05"S  long 148001'16"E  to the high-tide mark at Munroe Bight and bounded in the east by an imaginary line running south from a point at lat 42049'05"S long 148001'16"E and bounded in the west by an imaginary line running north to south from Whale Head at a point at Lat 43038'17.6"S long 146052'15"E (From Whale Head in the south up the east coast of Tasmania to Munroe Bight including Eaglehawk Neck);.

Central Eastern Zone

being that area of State waters on the east coast of Tasmania bounded in the south by an imaginary line running east to west from a point at lat 42049'05"S  long 148001'16"E  to the high-tide mark at Munroe Bight and bounded in the west by an imaginary line running south from a point at lat 42049'05"S long 148001'16"E and bounded in the north by an imaginary line running east to west from Isaacs Point at Friendly Beaches at a point at lat 41059'29"S long 148017'13" (From Munroe Bight in the south north to Isaacs Point at Friendly Beaches).

North Eastern Zone

Fishery being that area of State waters on the east and north coasts of Tasmania bounded in the south by an imaginary line running east to west from Isaacs Point at Friendly Beaches  at a point at lat 41059'29"S long 148017'13"and bounded to the north by an imaginary line running west to east  from a point at lat 40035'37"S long 147046'28" and bounded in the west by an imaginary line running south to north  from the eastern end of Tomahawk Beach  at a point at lat 40052'29"S long 147046'28"S until it intercepts with an imaginary line running west to east from a point lat  40052'29"S long 147046'28"S (From Isaacs Point at Friendly Beaches north moving anti-clockwise to the eastern end of Tomahawk Beach).

Northern Zone

being that area of State waters on the northern coast of Tasmania and including the Kent group of islands, the Furneaux group of islands and King Island bounded to the east by an imaginary line running south to north  from the eastern end of Tomahawk Beach  at a point at lat 40052'29"S long 147046'28"S until it intercepts with an imaginary line running west to east from a point lat40052'29"S long 147046'28"S and bounded to the south by the high tide mark on the northern coast of Tasmania until it reaches an imaginary line running east to west from a point  at Cape Grim lat 40040'40"S long 144041'11"E which then serves as the southern  boundary (Eastern end of Tomahawk Beach moving west to Cape Grim and including the King Island, the Furneaux Group and the Kent Group of Islands).

Western zone

being that area of State waters on the west coast of Tasmania bounded to the north by an imaginary line running east to west from a point  at Cape Grim lat 40040'40"S long 144041'11"E and bounded to the east by an imaginary line running north to south from Whale Head at a point at Lat 43038'17.6"S long 146052'15"E (Cape Grim south to Whale Head).
