Property boundaries on LISTmap and their accuracy

LISTmap enables easy access to a wide range of information including the indicative location of property boundaries via the Cadastral Parcels layer .

The term property boundary is often interchanged with cadastre, cadastral parcel and land title to explain generally the same thing.

By combining the LISTmap 'Cadastral parcels' layer with other layers such as topographical maps or aerial imagery users can gain a general understanding of their property boundaries in relation to features on the ground.

As the information displayed in LISTmap is indicative only it should not and cannot be used as a basis of true boundary location and under no circumstance should it be used as a legal basis for boundary re-instatement, definition or for any other similar purpose.

Boundary definition is primarily a legal process and only a land surveyor listed in the Register of Surveyors is authorised to confirm the location of a title boundary in Tasmania.

For more information on how differences may occur between the true location of boundaries and what is shown in LISTmap go to https://dpipwe.tas.gov.au/land-tasmania/geospatial-infrastructure-surveying/about-cadastral-surveys/property-boundaries-on-listmap
