COVID-19 Important Information for Travellers

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Tasmanian Government has declared a State of Emergency and tough border restr​ictions​ are in place.

All non-essential travellers arriving in Tasmania will be required to enter self-isolation for 14 days​ in government provided accommodation on arrival in Tasmania.

Essential Travellers that meet strict criteria will be exempt from the 14 day self-isolation requirement but must still comply with listed isolation conditions directed by the Director of Public Health under section 16 of the Public He​alth Act 1997.​

All travellers must complete an Arrivals Form​.

You can apply to be considered an Essential Traveller based on compassionate or medical grounds, if your work is identified as essential, or for other reasons considered on individual merit. See the Tasmanian border restrictions fact sheet for Essential Traveller categories.

If your application has not been assessed and approved by the time you arrive in Tasmania, you must begin the mandatory 14 days of self-isolation in government provided accommodation until your application has been approved. 

You will receive a letter or email from the State Controller​​, advising you of the decisi​​​on about your application.
