Veterinary Board of Tasmania
The Veterinary Board of Tasmania is an independent statutory authority responsible for administering the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1987. Responsibilities include registering veterinary surgeons and veterinary specialists, inspecting veterinary premises, and investigating complaints about veterinary surgeons in Tasmania.
The Tasmanian Director of Public Health has issued a range of directions under Section 16 of the Public Health Act 1997, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is your responsibility to inform yourself and continue to remain updated, including as circumstances change. You should exercise your personal and professional judgment and seek appropriate advice as to what is applicable to your circumstances.
The Board acknowledges that looking after yourself and your staff may mean departing from best practice. We recognise this and will take the broader situation into account if any concerns are raised with us during this time. To this end, we recommend that you include a detailed note in your client records of any impact to your clinical approach/ decision making as a result of COVID-19. For further information or advice on the veterinary service standards, please contact the Registrar.
