Carbon Farming Opportunities

The Tasmanian Government is assisting Tasmanian primary producers to understand and access opportunities to engage in carbon farming.

This includes providing assistance with the cost of accessing eligible advice about how to develop carbon initiatives on their land. The advice can be used to guide project design on potential carbon farming methods that may apply and related co-benefits. Tasmanian primary producers could then consider applying for funding through programs such as the Tasmanian Landcare Action Grants or access the carbon credit market through the Australian Government’s Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF).

Assistance provided by the Tasmanian Government includes the following:

Carbon farming workshops

Workshops are being held across the State to inform potential program participants about how to establish baselines, understanding different carbon markets, understanding the role of aggregators in the market, details of funding under the Carbon Farming Advice Rebate Pilot and Landcare Action Grants.
