Crop Protection Permits
A landholder is required to hold a crop protection permit to poison, trap and shoot wildlife which is causing damage to pasture and crops.
|Reporting Period||Number of crop protection permits issued||Number of active crop protection permits|
|1 April 2018 and 10 June 2018||481||4550|
|11 June 2018 and 23 October 2018||600||3747|
|24 October 2018 and 1 April 2019||772||4080|
|2 April 2019 to 30 June 2019||631||4540|
The reported metric has changed from the number of crop protection permits issued for the reporting period to the number of crop protection permits active or able to be legally used during the reporting period. This change reflects potential use of these permits rather than the large variation resulting from renewing permits which can occur annually or up to once every five years. The reporting period will be financial years.

|Number of Poppy Licences Issued or Active*|
* From 2018/19 poppy cultivation licences are no longer issued annually, but for a period of up to five years. To ensure consistency in reporting, the 2018/19 figure represents the number of active poppy cultivation licences during the 2018/19 season, rather than the number of licences issued.
