The Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment (DPIPWE) has a culture of zero tolerance towards violence, including any form of family violence.
DPIPWE will take an active role to support employees and their families by providing a workplace environment that promotes their safety and provides the flexibility to support employees to live free from violence.
DPIPWE announced in March 2018 that it has successfully gained accreditation as a White Ribbon Workplace. This was attained after undertaking a rigorous 18-month process to demonstrate commitment to cultural change in preventing and responding to violence against women in the workplace.
What is White Ribbon?
White Ribbon is Australia’s only national, male led Campaign to end men’s violence against women. The Campaign aims to raise awareness and change attitudes and behaviours by engaging men and boys to lead social change.
White Ribbon’s Vision is for all women to live in safety, free from all forms of men’s violence. Their mission is to make women’s safety a man’s issue too.
Globally, White Ribbon is the world’s largest male-led movement to end men’s violence against women and is active in more than 60 countries.
Workplace Accreditation Program
DPIPWE is committed to creating an inclusive workplace that embraces diversity and values equality and respect. As an organisation is it important to take active steps to prevent and respond to all forms of violence and to change the attitudes and behaviours that allow violence to occur. Maintaining accreditation as a White Ribbon Workplace helps keep us accountable and ensures our training and practices are frequently reviewed.
