Review into Tasmanian Thoroughbred Racetracks
The Tasmanian Government is conducting a review into Tasmanian Thoroughbred Racetracks to consider the adequacy of Tasmanian thoroughbred racetrack conditions, safety, standards, maintenance and inspections.
Mr Dale Monteith will lead an independent investigation into the circumstances around recent late cancellations of race meetings and the roles and responsibilities of Tasracing and the Office of Racing Integrity.
Mr Monteith is a former Chief Executive of the Victoria Racing Club and previously the Melbourne Racing Club. He will commence the investigation shortly and provide a report to the Minister for Racing by 1 March 2021 with his findings and recommendations.
The Terms of Reference for the investigation will enable Mr Monteith to identify causes of the late cancellation of race meetings at Mowbray Racecourse on 19 November 2020 and Elwick Racecourse on 27 December 2020.
