Introducing the Tasmanian General Biosecurity Duty

The Biosecurity Act 2019 emphasises the importance of shared responsibilities and the need for Government, industry and the community to work together to maintain a strong biosecurity system.

In simple terms, the General Biosecurity Duty (GBD) reinforces that everyone has a role to play in protecting our unique environment and primary industries from the harmful impacts of pests, weeds and diseases.

Biosecurity Tasmania has developed a range of online resources to give industries, organisations and individuals an overview of the GBD and which provide simple and practical everyday suggestions that can help everyone meet their GBD.
