AgriGrowth liaison officers will be on site to inform visitors about the FarmPoint helpline and website, and the Tassie Harvest Trail. Staff will be there to show producers how to register their jobs on the platform and encourage residents interested in agriculture employment opportunities to apply for one of the many diverse harvest and other roles in Tasmania.

AgriGrowth Industry Engagement Officer Bec Morris, will be making her Agfest debut working for Agriculture and Water at the DPIPWE tent.

“I am looking forward to interacting with the wide range of people Agfest brings in. The event is a great way to have direct, two-way conversations with the public and to educate the public on the work we have been doing,” AgriGrowth Industry Engagement Officer Bec Morris said.

“We are hoping to highlight the success of the Tassie Harvest Trail. However, we will also be focusing on the fact there is still work to be done to continue our efforts to encourage more Tasmanians to register for seasonal employment opportunities.

“There are still crops to get out of the paddock and plenty of post-harvest work to be done. We look forward to Agfest being back in the paddock this year.”

Game Services will also be in the DPIPWE tent to discuss how they support landholders to manage browsing wildlife, as well showing patrons how to use the DeerScan app to report sightings of wild fallow deer as part of the deer census project.

Safe Farming Tasmania will be on site to talk about health and safety on the farm with a current focus on COVID-19 and quadbike safety.
