Public Exhibition of Management Plan for the Shellfish Fishery
Public comment closed on these proposals on 24 February 2017.
The shellfish fishery includes the management of Katelysia cockles, Venerupis clams, native oysters and wild Pacific oysters.
The Minister directed that a formal management plan be re-made to supersede the existing arrangements which expire on 21 March 2017.
The draft management plan for the Tasmanian shellfish fishery (the Fisheries (Shellfish) Rules 2017
) has been prepared to supersede the existing management plan for the fishery. As required by the provisions of the
Living Marine Resources Management Act 1995
, the draft management plan was released for public comment.
Stakeholders were invited to make written submissions to the Department by 24 February 2017. Submissions received will be considered in the final preparation of the management plan and addressed in a report to the Minister.
