Rulers and Guides

The Recreational Fisheries section produces a range of free rulers, measures and guides to help fishers stay within the law.

If you are a fishing tackle outlet, visitor centre or other organisation and would like to stock our products or need to re-order, please select the quantities you need, and provide your name and delivery details on the order form:

 

Individual fishers can pick up rulers and the Recreational Sea Fishing Guide from Service Tasmania outlets, bait and tackle shops and visitor centres throughout the state. Measuring gauges are only available from Service Tasmania shops.

Fishing Guides

  • Recreational Sea Fishing Guide 2017-18  - a printed guide to Tasmania's recreational fishing rules and regulations published from November 1st each year.
  • Tas Fish Guide app - a free phone app for iPhone and Android containing all the information fishers need for anyone going recreational sea fishing in Tasmania.  Brochures at DL size outlining the app's features are available to order.

Fish Measuring Rulers

  • scalefish rulers - plastic for use in your tackle box;
  • stick-on fish rulers and ID guide - great to stick on the gunwhale or seat of your boat;
  • measuring gauges - used for species including rock lobster, abalone and scallops, these are available only from Service Tasmania outlets;
  • metal rulers for attaching to jetties and boat ramps - please contact our Fishcare Coordinator if you'd like to suggest one at your local fishing platform.

 

Fishing Hot Spot Maps and Posters

  • Fishing Hot Spot Maps - These fishing information guides including colour maps cover fishing hot spots in eleven regional areas around Tasmania. Popular with visitor centres and tackle shops, they are available to order in A4 tear-off pads. Or you can preview and print single copies here.
  • Fishes of Tasmania posters - a four poster set, available to buy from Service Tasmania outlets.
