Fishwise Grant Fund
The Fishwise Community Grants Program was initiated in 2006 to provide funding for projects run by individuals, organisations and community groups that improve the management of recreational sea fisheries and provide community education on recreational fishing issues, including discretionary research. In 2009, a review of the Fishwise fund identified several types of projects which tended to be recurrent and essential in nature, and funds were allocated for the respective needs. This included diverting budgets to the Resource Management Program for the rock lobster and abalone surveys, the General Fishing Survey and adequately funding Fishcare.
Open funding rounds has not occurred since 2011, with the last project payments made under that process in 2015/16. The Fishwise Community Grant Fund has provided an annual allocation under a periodically reviewed service agreement to the peak fishing body for recreational sea fishing, TARFish.List of projects and links to previously funded projects:
