The Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area (TWWHA) was inscribed on the World Heritage list in 1982.

The Department is responsible for ongoing monitoring and research to identify values and conservation requirements in the TWWHA, measure and report on trends over time, and evaluate how successful our management actions have been. Research provides a very important foundation for managing the values of the area and for informing the public of these values and their status over time.

Funding is provided by the Australian Government in collaboration with the Tasmanian Government.
